My name is Santhan, and with my partners and team, I am in the process of building Deep Red Ink. We are working to make this a workplace where purpose, people, relationships and personal growth are put ahead of profit, goals, transactions and professional success.

I believe that profit, goals, transactions and professional success are desirable but not directly attainable. They result from focusing on purpose, people, relationships and personal growth.

This blog is my space for reflection, conversations, and connections that can help me on this journey.

Behind the name

This blog is called counter.intuitive, because I like seeing things upside down and inside out. And I have often found that the opposite idea of many commonly accepted ideas is very powerful. And, perhaps, more applicable in business today.

For example, it’s intuitive that focusing on revenue generation improves revenues, its counter.intuitive that focusing on higher purpose improves revenues.  And this may be more true than the former – customers love brands that stand for something larger than profit.

While it is intuitive that relationships become better by proximity, its counter.intuitive that they could become better with distance. However that’s true too many times.
